Advancement & Fundraising Opportunity - Hazlet Clean Communities

posted Apr 19, 2018, 12:43 PM by James Borg
We have two Hazlet Clean Communities events coming up. This should allow most of the Troop to participate in at least one of these events. These 2 events, under 3 hours of work have the possibility of raising $1,000 for our Troop. That's a lot of Popcorn! These events are low impact and get you outside. Come out and support your Troop!

ADVANCEMENT & SOTY
This will count towards Conservation Related Service Hours, a requirement for rank advancement. This event will also be used as a substitute SOTY event. This means any Scouts that are short a SOTY event who attend a Hazlet Clean Communities event will earn the SOTY award. Scouts must participate for the full time the clean up is running to be credited.

EVENT INFO:
  1. May 5 (Saturday) 7:45AM-9AM at Natco Park at Raritan High School (419 Middle Rd, Hazlet, NJ 07730). We will be cleaning the park area behind the high school. We will meet under the solar panels at Raritan High School.

  2. May 12 (Saturday) 7:45AM-9AM at Natco Park at Gramercy at Lakeside Manor (410 NJ-36, Hazlet, NJ 07730). We will be cleaning the park area behind the restaurant. We will meet in the rear parking area of the restaurant.
We need to have a minimum of 40 attendees at each event to continue to participate in these Clean Communities Events.
Please email Mr. Borg if you will be able to participate. Include the full name of all those who will be participating in the cleanup; parents, siblings, and friends are welcome.

This is an opportunity to raise money for your Troop while assisting Hazlet Clean Communities with 1-1.5 hours of community service per event.

The township will provide all materials for the cleanup (you should bring your own work gloves if you have them).
Don't forget to bring a filled water bottle.

SAFETY RULES FROM HAZLET CLEAN COMMUNITIES
NO SANDALS (CLOSED TOED SHOES ONLY), NO SHORTS ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ALLOWED.
If you do not comply with these safety rules, you will not be able to participate in the cleanup.

This Cleanup Helps to Raise Funds for Your Troop
This is part of a Clean Communities Grant that will provide us with $10 per participant for up to 50 participants with a maximum of $500 earned. These funds will be deposited into the Troop account to offset Troop expenses.

This Community Service Project is Open to Non-Scouts
These hours can count towards National Honor Society, religious or any other community service hour requirements.

Please share this information with your friends and family.
