Hazlet Clean Communities - May 26 and June 9

posted May 21, 2018, 7:13 AM by James Borg
We have two Hazlet Clean Communities opportunities coming up on Saturday May 26 and Saturday June 9. The June 9 event is the makeup day for cancelled Natco Park clean up which the township has specifically requested the Troop assist with, because they feel we are more familiar dealing with the unique challenges of a wooded environment.

We had a great turnout for our last one. If we have at least 50 participants each for these two clean ups we will raise an additional $1,000 for the Troop with just 2 hrs of work.
That would bring our total for this season so far to $1,500.

ADVANCEMENT & SOTY
This will count towards Conservation Related Service Hours, a requirement for rank advancement. This event will also be used as a substitute SOTY event. This means any Scouts that are short a SOTY event who attend a Hazlet Clean Communities event will earn the SOTY award. Scouts must participate for the full time the clean up is running to be credited.

EVENT INFO:

May 26 (Saturday) 7:45AM-9AM area around the Hazlet Pool Club (1766 Union Ave, Hazlet, NJ 07730). We will meet in the parking lot across from the Pool Club Entrance.

June 9 (Saturday) 7:45AM-9AM at Natco Park at Gramercy at Lakeside Manor (410 NJ-36, Hazlet, NJ 07730). We will be cleaning the park area behind the restaurant. We will meet in the rear parking area of the restaurant.

Having a respectable turnout for these events ensures that we can continue to participate in them.
Please email me at Mr.Borg@T137.org if you will be able to participate. Include the full name of all those who will be participating in the cleanup; parents, siblings, and friends are welcome.

This is an opportunity to raise money for your Troop while assisting Hazlet Clean Communities with 1-1.5 hours of community service per event.

The township will provide all materials for the cleanup (you should bring your own work gloves if you have them).
Don't forget to bring a filled water bottle.

SAFETY RULES FROM HAZLET CLEAN COMMUNITIES
NO SANDALS (CLOSED TOED SHOES ONLY), NO SHORTS ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ALLOWED.
If you do not comply with these safety rules, you will not be able to participate in the cleanup.

This Cleanup Helps to Raise Funds for Your Troop
This is part of a Clean Communities Grant that will provide us with $10 per participant for up to 50 participants, with a maximum of $500 earned. These funds will be deposited into the Troop account to offset Troop expenses.

This Community Service Project is Open to Non-Scouts
These hours can count towards National Honor Society, religious or any other community service hour requirements.

Please share this information with your friends and family.
