March 21st is our trip to Camp Delmont, PA, and the Valley Forge historic trail hike. Permission slips are due on March 11th. New scouts will be sleeping in tents to meet their tenderfoot requirement, and older scouts will have the option of tents or Lean-tos. This trip is also our OA tap-out, and we have some additional surprises in store for our saturday night.
Thanks to Committee member Tara Konze, we have an exciting opportunity for scouts on May 10th. We will be participating in a one day Oceanography merit badge session. Description of Oceanography Course: Scouts will explore the diverse habitats of Sandy Hook, including the marine environment of the Horseshoe Cove salt marsh, and the maritime forest by the bay. They will study waves and currents, examine water quality and salinity at the beach, and collect plankton to observe in the laboratory. Permission slips for this event are due March 11th, and space is limited to the first 30 people. These should be turned in to Mr. or Mrs. Konze at the 3/4 or 3/11 troop meetings.
Permission slips for both events are attached to this news item. |
