Hazlet Clean Communities - Sunday, September 29

posted Sep 22, 2019, 6:03 AM by James Borg

We have a Hazlet Clean Communities opportunity on Sunday, September 29. We will be cleaning the area around Veteran's Park following the Hazlet Day Celebration. We understand that this is during our Popcorn Fundraiser and requires yet another investment of your Scouts time. The township specifically reached out to us because they have a real need here following the Hazlet Day Celebration, and we are thorough and reliable.

Attending this event not only helps raise money for your Troop and provide a service to your community, it also assists Scouts in meeting the conservation related service hours required for advancement.

If we have at least 50 participants for this event we will raise $500 for the Troop with just 1 hr of work.

ADVANCEMENT & SOTY
This will count towards Conservation Related Service Hours, a requirement for rank advancement. This event will also be used as a substitute SOTY event. This means any Scouts that are short a SOTY event who attend a Hazlet Clean Communities event will earn the SOTY award. Scouts must participate for the full time the clean up is running to be credited.

EVENT INFO:
September 29 (Sunday) 8AM
Veteran's Park - 1776 Union Avenue
We will meet in the parking lot across from the swim club (lower parking lot).

SAFETY RULES FROM HAZLET CLEAN COMMUNITIES
NO SANDALS (CLOSED TOED SHOES ONLY), NO SHORTS ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ALLOWED.
If you do not comply with these safety rules, you will not be able to participate in the cleanup.

The township will provide all materials for the cleanup (you should bring your own work gloves if you have them).
Don't forget to bring a filled water bottle.

This Cleanup Helps to Raise Funds for Your Troop
This is part of a Clean Communities Grant that will provide us with $10 per participant for up to 50 participants, with a maximum of $500 earned. These funds will be deposited into the Troop account to offset Troop expenses.

This Community Service Project is Open to Non-Scouts
These hours can count towards National Honor Society, religious or any other community service hour requirements.
Please share this information with your friends and family.

Having a respectable turnout for these events ensures that we can continue to participate in them.
Please email Mr. Borg if you will be able to participate. Include the full name of all those who will be participating in the cleanup; parents, siblings, and friends are welcome.

This is an opportunity to raise money for your Troop while assisting Hazlet Clean Communities with 1-1.5 hours of community service per event.
